The Legal Services Clinic (LSC) of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, India, is run by members, coopts and volunteers of the clinic, with invaluable support and advice from the faculty in charge. LSC has a range of activities, including trips to villages around Bangalore, to conduct Legal Literacy Programmes (LLPs), using street plays to get the messge across. These LLPs are also conducted for schools, and in slums in Bangalore. LSC also holds mediation trips to Ramnagaram and in association with the NGO APSA, works to help solve cases out of Court. Where no settlement is arrived at, a legal aid lawyer is obtained for the client. We also work with other organizatons like the Devamma Trust, SHAKTI and EOTO to conduct various other types of LLPs. Recently, we have begun to work with the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL). In addition to all the above, we conduct annual Client Counselling and Negotiations Competitions to increase the interest among the students in college for alternative methods of dispute resolution.
